ATX Smart Homes has spent 10 years designing and installing smart home systems for Austin homeowners and light commercial clients. We’re a small, tech-forward team that likes things done right: clean installs, clear documentation, and clients who actually know how to use what we built.
The role
You’re an experienced installer or integrator who can run a job without hand-holding. You’ll do hands-on installs, commissioning, and troubleshooting on residential and light commercial systems. Medium to senior experience only. This is not an entry-level role.
What you’ll do
- Install and terminate low-voltage systems: Cat6, fiber, rack builds, labeling, and clean wire management
- Install, program, and commission control systems (Control4, Savant, Lutron, Josh.ai)
- Design, deploy, and troubleshoot networks: UniFi or similar, VLANs, Wi-Fi coverage, firewalls, remote monitoring (Wattbox/OvrC)
- Install and tune AV: TVs, Apple TV, distributed audio, and projectors
- Install and configure lighting, shades, cameras, access control, and intercoms as the project requires
- Troubleshoot service calls and fix root causes
- Document every job: as-builts, network diagrams, IP/VLAN schemes, programming backups, and a client handoff packet
- Walk clients through their system and leave them confident using it
- Log your work, notes, photos, and checklists in our field ops app
What we’re looking for
- Several years of hands-on smart home, AV, or low-voltage integration
- Strong networking fundamentals and real troubleshooting skill
- Experience with at least one major control platform (Control4, Savant, Lutron), and willingness to learn the others
- Clean, professional work and good client communication
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; background check required
- Your own vehicle and basic hand tools (we’ll help with tools for the right candidate)
- Able to work in attics and crawlspaces and lift 50+ lbs at times
Nice to have
- Control4, Savant, Lutron, CEDIA, or Ubiquiti certifications
- Composer Pro or Savant Pro programming experience
- Commercial or light-commercial experience
